Meditation Days 1 & 2

I had some catching up to do, so Monday I did two meditations in a row and today I did three. Okay, so I was really behind, but that's all in the past now. I won't let it happen again.

This photo has nothing to do with meditation, but it is part of the view I have when I meditate out back (before I close my eyes). It's the strip of land where we planted our new asparagus patch. Hope they're happy there!

The Oprah/Deepak meditations are about 20 minutes long in total, but the meditation time is shorter because they talk at the beginning, first Oprah, then Deepak. I find myself tuning them out a little, Oprah especially because she's really just giving Deepak an introduction. Anyhow, that's neither here nor there.

The meditation parts consist of New Age-y music and begin and end with a chime. Deepak says "I will mind the time," a sentence I like. I want to start saying I'll "mind the time," if I can figure out a way to work that phrase into my life.

I'm starting to feel like I'm ready to branch out and meditate on my own, without a guide. It's interesting that I've gotten to that point, because I've never been there before.

I'm still working on mindfulness, too. I continue to use the naming technique quite a bit, although I find it easier to focus in general. I suppose my mind is getting trained. We're like a puppy you've had for a couple weeks. Far from perfect, but better.

And still working on being nicer/ not being a b*tch while I'm driving. I'm getting better, but it still comes up.

So, that's my day two update, but I'm really on day 16 of this challenge. More later.
