Oops! I forgot to post this yesterday.
Years ago, we went to see the musical "Sunday in the Park with George" when it was produced here in St. Louis by New Line Theatre. I've also seen this painting in person in Chicago. It really is one worth seeing in person, as much so as Monet's Waterlilies.
There's so much going on in this painting. Seurat's technique, with all those points of color, is amazing, but so is the scene and the stylized glimpse it offers into the lives of park-goers at that time.
