It's warming up! If you consider 19 degree warm, which you might if you lived here.
You can tell it's warmer because some of the cats are hanging out outside again, sunning themselves. The house is quiet.
There's a still a sharp wind out there, now coming from the west, which I ran straight into for the first three quarters of a mile today. Oops.
I wore less clothing and wasn't quite as warm. I traded the fleece jacket for a vest and wore thinner (but still not exactly thin) gloves. My neck was a little cold, though. I find it nearly impossible to dress exactly right for running in any sort of extreme temperature. I don't know why I keep reporting on it.
The dog was happier today, too, because the snow on the sidewalks has melted away and her feet didn't bother her. I ordered her some of this Musher's Secret stuff, so next time it snows, we'll see how if it helps.
When I run with the dog, with is most of the time, I always end up with a really slow first mile, because the dog has a LOT to do as soon as she gets out of the house, none of which involves running. She has to stop for potty-related activities at least twice, sometimes three times, and also there are these dog-nose magnets in the ground in the first mile that she is unable to pass by. And squirrels. Can't forget the squirrels. And she never wants to go in the direction I want to go in.
But the rest of my run was slow, too, with 12-minute miles, but whatever. I got 2.34 miles in, so I'm happy. Someday I'll get it together and run at least three miles again, but maybe not this week.
