I'm super excited to introduce my new logo, created for the blog by my friend Sam. I asked Sam if she could make a logo when I started the blog, because she's an artist, knowing it's a lot to ask someone to create anything. She showed me a sketch I liked at some point and yesterday, she surprised me with the finished product.
A logo is something I definitely couldn't make myself. First, I wouldn't know where to start. And even if I had a good idea, I'd be unable to execute it. So I wasn't holding my breath on getting one when I asked Sam. I knew it would be a lot of work. And I know how I feel when people ask me to write for free, or even to read their stories. It always sounds good when I agree, but not after. I owe someone a story-reading I promised over a month ago. Actually, I'll do that today. It'll be like decluttering - one in, one out.
The logo makes the blog feel more real to me. Now I want to put the logo on everything. I made it my desktop, I want to get it on my phone, have t-shirts made...
The cat on my logo is our cat, Henry. I took a picture of him outside one day after we got the dog. Henry does not want to interact with the dog, but the dog very much wants to play with Henry. And Henry makes the best cat faces.
Why a frustrated cat face? Challenges can be frustrating! And cats don't hesitate to let you know how they really feel. Unlike the blog, though, they do try to hide their failures. I mean, they don't fail. Cats never make mistakes, is what I meant to say. If you live with a cat, you know what I mean.
Think of Henry as your coach. You have to at least try, or he'll be very disappointed in you. Don't let him down!
This logo is definitely one of the best gifts I've ever received! I don't think Sam wants to go into the logo-making business, but she certainly could. This thing is amazing!
