We go to Eric's mom's house on Christmas Eve, so we brought some stuff back with us. Luckily, the biggest gift they gave us this year is a trip to San Diego, so the haul of actual stuff wasn't so big. And I decided I'm not doing this for Eric's things. If the gift had only his name on it, I'm not responsible. Otherwise, I'd be out in the garage trying to find a car window scraper to donate.
I got a book (Alice Monroe!), so I'm getting rid of a book, and we received a couch throw, which Hazel is thrilled about, because she's really into throws. A few weeks ago, I got rid of several old throws, but it appears we still have five. I think that should be okay. Even if the dog has three, that still leaves us one each. I'm getting rid of a thick throw I like, but it has a hole in it, evidence of the dog's younger, wilder years.
And Eric's sister sent everyone coffee mugs with cocoa mix and marshmallows shaped like our initials, so I'm getting rid of two coffee mugs.
Everything else we got is either Eric's or consumable. This wasn't so bad!
On a side note, we received two more mini-bottles of booze.
Experience gifts are the best, in my opinion. We haven't received too many, but they're memorable. Eric's dad gave everyone a hot air balloon ride a few years ago, and the trip to Europe with my mom was a gift. It was somewhat of a relief this morning to not have as much stuff to put away as we usually do.
